Security

We take security seriously and so should you.

Stanford is committed to protecting the privacy of its students, alumni, faculty, and staff, as well as protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information important to the University’s mission. To that end, in all our systems and platforms we follow the minimum security standards set forth by UIT (https://uit.stanford.edu/guide/securitystandards).

If you choose to use your own independent system, you are responsible for correctly managing any secure data and credentials necessary. For example, any efforts to build a “moderate risk” cloud environment will take a number of administrative requests to University IT for linking user workgroups, configuring Duo multi-factor authentication and installing necessary scanning and logging tools. This process requires a considerable investment of time and training, and should not be undertaken lightly.
